Green Bay Gears Up for Home Buyer Events During Money Smart Week

WHEDA®, NeighborWorks to offer home buyer workshops throughout week and Affordable Home Tour

Green Bay – With the Money Smart Week Wisconsin campaign set to get underway Oct. 12 - 18, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA®) and NeighborWorks® Green Bay have teamed up to offer a variety of free home buyer education workshops. The workshops will run from Oct. 13 - 17 at the NeighborWorks Green Bay Homeownership Center on 437 S. Jackson Street.

Interested home buyers will also have the chance to partake in the Affordable Home Tour on Saturday, Oct. 18. The tour, which is offered by local Realtors, will allow potential home buyers to visit houses in Green Bay priced at $150,000 or less. Open house locations will be published in a special housing supplement of the Green Bay Press-Gazette on Oct. 18.

There are two home buyer education sessions scheduled, in which home buyers will have the opportunity to receive their home buyer education certification. Here are the details of the sessions:

What: Home Buyer Education: Sessions I & II
When: Session I, Monday, Oct. 13; Session II, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: NeighborWorks Green Bay Homeownership Center

Participants must attend both sessions to receive a Home Buyer Education Certificate and a credit report. This certification is required for a pre-approval on a WHEDA loan. No credit reports will be run without the participant’s authorization.

Other workshops offered throughout the week will include topics such as buying a home in foreclosure, getting pre-qualified for a WHEDA Home Loan, the home inspection process, protecting your equity, and a home buying process overview.
